Custom Painted Buffalo Robe

from $1,750.00

Step 1 Contact me

If a payment is made without contacting me first I reserve the right to artistic liberty and assume the pattern/image is being left to my own creativity. Please note if you are needing more than 5 colors or a large scene the price may change and increase. If you want a brain tan buffalo hide there will be a surcharge.

  • Beware of chrome tanned buffalo hides they have a blue tint that doesn’t show up on online photos. It is very important especially if you are shipping an item from a supplier directly to me. If I do not supply the hide I can not guarantee the hide to be of quality.

Step 2:

Select if you are supplying me with a wolf hide (must be legally sourced and accompanied with paperwork as such or legal notarized statement of origin) Once paid I will provide the address to ship the hide to. If I am supplying the hide I order it.

Step 3:

Hide arrives I draw up a pattern for approval. This price is limited to a 5 or less color scheme.

Step 4:

I begin painting

Step 5:

I send a photo for your approval and your item ships and will require a signature.

About the paint:

The paint used on this piece is becoming a lost art it is extremely special. Pigment paints are made from crushed stones and plants. I have to mix each color by hand every time I paint, and I usually have to reheat my paint several times throughout the painting process. I use only hand carved painting sticks to apply my paint to the piece.
Today most artists use acrylic paint but when they do it simply doesn’t look “indian”
These are the original paints used by my ancestors. They are mixed with hide paste and or prickly pear.
Robe meaning will be sent with the purchase as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.
This robe is painted with traditional paints. This means I mix it myself and tattoo and press it into the hide with sticks. No paintbrush no chemicals... Just traditional hide glue and crushed rocks.
